Ms Gay Marie Manalo Francisco
Gay completed her Master of Public Policy degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Arts, Media, Film, and Television at the University of Auckland. She likewise completed a Bachelor of Laws degree at the Manuel L. Quezon University, Manila, Philippines. She is a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication where she took a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communication.
As for her professional experience, Gay has worked in the private sector handling corporate communication and corporate affairs. She also worked in the academe as Vice President for Administration of a tertiary institution in the Philippines where she had the opportunity to develop student programs and establish the scholarships and career and placement services units.
Gay has been also involved in various nonprofits. She was Executive Director of Muntinlupa Development Foundation which helps urban poor communities. She was also involved in the Asean Unity Park project of the FAITH Botanic Gardens Foundation, a private sector initiative which advocates the establishment of private parks and recreational spaces for the community. She was also the Director for Communication of Bato Balani Foundation, a corporate foundation which aims to help in uplifting the quality of education in the Philippines.

Gay is currently looking at how formal and informal institutions shape major women issue legislation in the Philippines using the feminist institutionalism approach.
