Writing Studies

Are you interested in creative writing, academic writing or literacy?

Writing Studies combines hands-on writing practice with the study of writing. You will be able to understand and analyse effective writing for different audiences, and gain an awareness of written English in different cultural environments. You will also be able to produce effective writing, and will learn how to revise and edit text. If you are interested in creative writing, you will develop the confidence, resourcefulness and imagination to produce work in different media.

Writing Studies and your career
Writing Studies can prepare you for a career in writing or information. You could use your skills in marketing, journalism, the media, government, the arts, editing, publishing, tourism and teaching.

Study options in Writing Studies
Writing Studies is available for undergraduate programmes, and is co-ordinated by the Department of English. At postgraduate level there is a Master of Creative Writing.
