What can you study in Women's Studies?

You can take courses which focus on women and gender from a range of subjects: Anthropology, Sociology, Political Studies, History, European Languages and Literatures, Education, Philosophy and Psychology.

There are also core Women's Studies courses which look at how women are represented across all these approaches. You can study how gender operates in everyday life, how women are represented in the media and art, sexuality, gender and colonisation in the Pacific, film noir and theories of the body.

Undergraduate programmes in Women's Studies

ou can study Women's Studies as:

  • a BA major or minor subject
  • elective courses in the BA
  • a subject within the Certificate in Arts.

Requirements for a BA major and minor

For a single major you must pass at least 135 points, including at least 60 points above Stage II.

For a double major you must pass at least 120 points in each of two majors, including at least 45 points above Stage II in each major

For a BA minor you must pass at least 90 points, including at least 60 points above Stage I.
