Current Korean students and recent graduates tell their own stories.
With its unique cultural tradition and with its rapid development in the last five decades, Korea has emerged as one of the most important countries in Asia. In particular, Korea’s dynamic and vibrant culture today has been attracting global attention.
Korea plays an important role as the hub of Northeast Asia. The South Korean economy is 13th largest in the world, and it is one of New Zealand's major trade partners. There are other links between Korea and NZ - more than 30,000 Korean immigrants live in New Zealand, and about 1,000 New Zealanders work in South Korea in many fields including English teaching.
Korean and your career
Graduates in Korean have careers in international organisations, NGOs, the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and other areas of government. You might also work for a multinational company or a New Zealand company in Asia, or within New Zealand's Asian communities.
Study options in Korean
Korean is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and is taught by the School of Asian Studies.
