Undergraduate study
Your study of the Bible gives you opportunities to explore:
- the Ancient Near East and the empires of Greece and Rome;
- the development of Judaism as a religious tradition in those worlds and its sacred texts;
- the emerging communities of early Christianity and their sacred writings, including gospels and letters;
- methods for reading and interpreting those texts today;
- perspectives that inform interpretation such as ecological, feminist, Māori, Pacific and other culturally-based approaches.
You can study Biblical Studies as:
- a Bachelor of Theology (BTheol) major or minor subject
- elective courses in the BTheol
- part of the 30 points permitted from non-Arts courses if you are studying a BA.

Requirements for a BTheol major and minor
For a single major you must pass at least 135 points in one subject area, including 60 points above Stage II.
For a double major you must pass at least 120 points in each of two majors, including 45 points above Stage II in each major.
For a BTheol minor you must pass at least 90 points in another subject area, including 60 points above Stage I and 15 points at Stage III.

You must choose your courses from those listed in the BTheol schedule for Biblical Studies. You must also meet any specific requirements indicated in the schedule.
