History cafes
History cafes will be held as informal discussions between staff and postgraduates on the first Monday of each month at 4.30pm in the Common Room.
New History lecturer
The Department of History is pleased to welcome Dr Felicity Barnes who has taken up a Lecturer position in New Zealand history. Felicity is a graduate of the Department, where she received her PhD in 2008. Her book, entitled, New Zealand's London: The metropolis and colonial culture, 1880-1980, will be coming out with Auckland University Press in August of this year and explores London's role in New Zealand's identity and culture. In 2012 Felicity will be teaching HISTORY 705: Writing New Zealand History.
