Scholarships and awards

Noni Wright Prize in Film, Television and Media Studies
Funded through a bequest from Eleanor and Wilfred William Wright in the name of Noni Wright, film producer and director, this prize is awarded annually to the value of NZ$250 to the first-year student majoring in Film, Television and Media Studies who displays the best overall academic performance in both FTVMS 100 Media Studies and FTVMS 101 Film Studies.

Geoff Evans Prize for Excellence in Screen Production
Funded by Images & Sound in memory of Geoff Evans, this prize is awarded annually to a full-time Masters student in Screen Production who has obtained high marks for their work in SCREEN 797A/B. It awards professional post-production services to the value of NZ$7,500 provided by Images & Sound to the winning student to improve the production quality of his or her film. This could include Telecine transfer, colour grade, VFX or sound mixing as suits the requirements of the specific winner.

First in course awards
First in Course Awards were established in 2010 by the University of Auckland Council. The main purpose of these Awards is to recognise the student(s) who obtained the highest overall mark in a taught course.

Regulations

  • The Awards will be known as the “First in Course” Awards.
  • The Award will be recorded on the recipients’ official academic transcript.
  • The Awards will be allocated at the end of each semester to the student(s) whose academic performance identifies them as having achieved the highest final marks in a particular taught course. Recipients must have achieved a minimum final grade of A-.
  • In the event that two or more students obtain a final percentage mark that is within a margin of +/- 0.5%, this award will be shared.
  • Recipients of the Awards will be endorsed by The University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of the relevant Dean of Faculty or their nominee.
  • The University of Auckland Council has the power to amend or vary these regulations provided that there is no departure from the main purpose of these Awards.

Note:

  • Directed reading and individual study courses, as defined by Faculties, are excluded from consideration for these awards.
  • Winners will be notified by the Scholarships Office.
