Graduate Teaching Assistant positions
Expressions of interest are invited from postgraduate students in the Department of Film, Television and Media Studies for appointment as Graduate Teaching Assistants for the 2012 session. Because of the uncertainties surrounding enrolments, we are unable at this stage to give any guarantee of employment, but we would hope to offer some positions.
The following guidelines will apply:
- The number of tutorial groups offered in any given course is dependent upon enrolment numbers.
- Graduate Teaching Assistants should normally expect to have a maximum of 20 students in each tutorial.
- Contracts allow provision for teaching for 11 weeks (the number of groups may vary with 4-6 being the norm), plus associated preparation; all assignment marking for tutorial group members (two pieces in most instances); examination marking and meetings; regular office hours; and attendance at lectures, tutors’ meetings and training courses.
If you wish to be considered for a Graduate Teaching Assistant position, please complete the Expression of Interest Form and include an up-to-date curriculum vitae listing academic qualifications, teaching experience, training courses, teaching evaluations, and any other relevant information.
Potential Graduate Teaching Assistants who are PhD students must confirm in their Expression of Interest that they have consulted their supervisors about their interest in teaching in 2012.
All applications should be sent the following address:
