Ethics considers questions about how we ought to live.
In Ethics you can think about both theoretical ethical questions and practical moral issues. We critically assess arguments and engage with the thinking of historical and contemporary philosophers.
Ethics and your career
Ethics develops your skills in clear thinking, analysis, problem solving and evaluation. These skills are an advantage in many careers, including careers in business, computing and government service as well as professional training.
Study options in Ethics
Ethics is available for undergraduate programmes. Postgraduate study opportunities are available in Philosophy.
From 2013 Ethics will no longer be available as a separate subject. New students will be able to study ethics as part of Philosophy. Students who have already begun a major or minor in Ethics should see the
Arts Students' Centre.
Ethics is taught by the Department of Philosophy.
