Changing your enrolment
You can change the courses you are enrolled in within certain dates.
You can add, change or delete your courses by the following dates. If you delete a course it is removed from your academic record and your fees are refunded.
Semester One courses: Friday 15 March 2013
Full year (A and B) courses: Friday 29 March 2013
Semester Two courses: Friday 2 August 2013
Submit the online Postgraduate Change Enrolment form.
You can only use this form if you have previously submitted a request for enrolment on the Postgraduate Course Enrolment Form.
A and B courses are taught over two semesters. You must add or delete both the A and B components (ie, both halves of the course).
It is possible to enrol in courses after the deadlines specified above. You must have approval from your department and pay a late fee.
Submit the online Postgraduate Change Enrolment form
The procedure you must follow depends on the reason you are pulling out of the course.
Late deletions
If you cannot continue because of serious circumstances beyond your control you can apply for a late deletion on compassionate grounds. If your application is approved, the course will be deleted from your record and you may receive a partial refund of fees. As soon as possible see the Arts Students’ Centre.
Withdrawals
If you have just changed your mind and compassionate grounds do not apply, you will need to withdraw from the course by submitting the online Postgraduate Change Enrolment form.
You must do so within the deadlines listed below. If you do not follow the procedure for withdrawing you will remain enrolled in the course.
Note that withdrawals remain on your academic record as “W”. The course is treated as a fail and counted as zero for the purposes of calculating honours/merit/distinction and your grade point average. Your fees will not be refunded.
You can only enrol in a limited number of extra points to compensate for withdrawn/failed courses.
Deadlines for withdrawing:
- Semester One courses: Friday 17 May 2013
- Semester Two and full year (A and B) courses: Friday 4 October 2013. Because an A and B course is one whole course, you must withdraw from both the A and B components.
Postgraduate study must normally be continuous. If you are unable to study for a semester you need to apply for approval to suspend your enrolment, using the following form.
You should apply for suspension immediately, not when you return to study, and you must explain the exceptional circumstances that require a break. Before submitting you should talk to your department’s Graduate Adviser and gain the department’s support for the application. Advice and assistance is also available from the Postgraduate Co-ordinator at the Arts Students’ Centre.
