Changing Pacific household composition and wellbeing, 1981 to 2006

This was a one year project funded by the Families Commission, with collaboration between The University of Auckland’s Centre for Pacific Studies and COMPASS. The study undertook a detailed analysis of changes in Pacific families and Pacific household composition over a 25 year period by a range of key characteristics. A key additional component was the use of the newly developed family wellbeing indicators from COMPASS’s Family Whanau and Wellbeing Project

Further details on these can also be found in the Family Wellbeing Indicators technical report .

For this study, the indicators were presented and compared across a number of Pacific subgroups of interest (e.g. by family type and/or household composition, NZ born vs Pacific born Pacific people, by region and by specific Pacific ethnic groups).
