Research Interests

- Manchu-Tungusic studies (histories, cultures and languages of the Manchu-Tungusic peoples, especially the Manchus, the Sibes,  the  Evenki).
-   Description of indigenous languages.
- Syntactic and semantic typology of the Altaic languages (Manchu-Tungusic, Mongolian, Turkic), especially the Manchu, the Sibe and the Evenki languages.
- Manchu syntax, discourse and pragmatics in comparison with the Chinese language.
- Bicultural education, creation of indigenous educational materials, training of indigenous teachers and scholars.
