Scholarships

All sorts of scholarships are available for postgraduate students in Arts.

University scholarships

  • Guaranteed scholarships
    The University of Auckland offers guaranteed postgraduate scholarships to domestic research students who meet grade point average (GPA) thresholds from their qualifying programme.

  • University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship
    For domestic and international students; value up to $27,300 per annum plus compulsory fees and international health insurance.
  • University of Auckland Māori Postgraduate Scholarships
    For Māori students enrolled in any masters or postgraduate level honours degree, or any postgraduate diploma on or after 1 January 2016 who have achieved a GPA of 7.50 or above in their most recent qualifying programme at a recognised university; value up to $13,000 per annum plus compulsory fees.
  • University of Auckland Pacific Postgraduate Scholarship
    For domestic Pacific students enrolled in any masters or postgraduate level Bachelors honours degree, or any postgraduate diploma on or after 1 January 2016 who have achieved a GPA of 7.50 or above in their most recent qualifying programme at a recognised university; value up to $13,000 per annum plus compulsory fees.

Major scholarships for Faculty of Arts students

  • Faculty of Arts Masters Thesis Scholarship
    For students enrolled full-time or part-time in a thesis, research portfolio or project of at least 90 points for the degree of Master of Arts, Master of Literature, Master of Public Policy, Master of Creative Writing or Master of Theology; value up to $5,000.
  • Dean of Arts Masters Thesis Scholarship
    For students enrolled full-time or part-time in a thesis, research portfolio or project of at least 90 points for the degree of Master of Arts, Master of Literature, Master of Public Policy, Master of Creative Writing or Master of Theology; value up to $3,000.
  • Faculty of Arts International Masters Degree Scholarship
    For international students enrolled full-time in a Master of Arts, Master of Creative Writing, Master of Literature, Master of Public Policy, Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Master of Theology or Master of Professional Studies in the Faculty of Arts; value up to $10,000 per annum.
