Asian Studies
Asian Studies gives you a broad understanding of the complexities and opportunities of Asia.
Asian Studies is an interdisciplinary programme that draws on the wide range of expertise on Asia both in the School of Cultures, Languages and Linguistics and across the Faculty of Arts as a whole.
The University of Auckland offers the widest range of Asian Studies course options in New Zealand. You can choose to study film, literature, politics, history, popular culture, philosophy, geography, economics and anthropology.
Asian Studies graduates have gone on to careers in international organisations, NGOs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and other areas of government.
Many students choose to augment their Chinese, Japanese or Korean major with a major or minor in Asian Studies; alternatively other students like to add Asian expertise to their major in other areas offered within the Bachelor of Arts.
