Pacific Studies at the University of Auckland aspires to be a national, regional, and global leader in Indigenous knowledges, languages, and cultures in contemporary Pacific worlds. We centre Pacific communities and their lived realities in weaving together research, teaching, and community engagement. Uniquely positioned in Aotearoa, New Zealand, our scholarship is interdisciplinary, transnational, critical, decolonial, and solution-seeking.
As one of the global leaders in Pacific Studies, we pride ourselves on our world-leading research and scholarly enterprise.
We advance interdisciplinary knowledge in Pacific histories, health and wellbeing, social anthropology, languages (Samoan, Cook Islands Reo, Tongan), Indigenous epistemologies, dance, performance, material culture and film.
We are positioned in close proximity to the Fale Pasifika, our cultural reference point and a symbol of our identity as Pacific students and staff at the University of Auckland.
