Scholarships and awards
Clark Undergraduate Scholarships
These scholarships are to support students in financial hardship who wish to undertake a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Auckland, and are worth up to $22,000 per annum.
First in Course Awards
These are awarded at the end of each semester to the student/s who obtained the highest overall mark in a taught course. Winners are notified by the Scholarships Office and the award is recorded on the recipient’s official academic transcript. Senior Scholar Awards
Senior Scholar Awards recognise the graduating students who attained the highest marks in their undergraduate programme. Each faculty is allocated a number of awards. Prizes
The University of Auckland awards a variety of Prizes each year. Prizes are awarded by the Scholarships Office on behalf of the University of Auckland Council and will display on your transcript. You don't need to apply for Prizes — they are awarded on the recommendation of the appropriate disciplinary area and/or faculty. The University of Auckland Prizes.

For postgraduate research focussing on the psychosocial issues faced by adolescent and young adult patients and their family, in regard to their lived experience with a life threatening illness, such as cancer or a blood disorder. |

Kakano Fund |
The Kakano Fund was established in 1985 by the Association of Social Anthropologists of Aotearoa/New Zealand to assist MA students in Social Anthropology who are completing theses or dissertations. Funding of up to $250.00 is available to help cover thesis/dissertation preparation, such as expenses for computer use, typing, photocopying, tapes, photographic reproduction etc., and research expenses. Letters of application should include a short statement regarding the nature of the project, amount sought (up to $250.00), use to which funds will be put, and expected date of completion. A statement of support from the applicant’s main supervisor should also be included. Students will be notified of the address to which to apply when the application date is announced. |

Skinner Fund |
The Skinner Fund provides graduate students with up to $1,000 towards research costs. Notices are placed on the noticeboards, and closing date is mid-March. |

Noni Wright Prize in Media, Film and Television Studies |
Funded through a bequest from Eleanor and Wilfred William Wright in the name of Noni Wright, film producer and director, this prize is awarded annually to the value of NZ$250 to the first-year student majoring in Media, Film and Television who displays the best overall academic performance in both MEDIA 100: Media Studies and MEDIA 101: Film Studies. |

Geoff Evans Prize for Excellence in Screen Production |
Funded by Images & Sound in memory of Geoff Evans, this prize is awarded annually to a full-time Masters student in Screen Production who has obtained high marks for their work in SCREEN 797A/B. It awards professional post-production services to the value of NZ$7,500 provided by Images & Sound to the winning student to improve the production quality of his or her film. This could include Telecine transfer, colour grade, VFX or sound mixing as suits the requirements of the specific winner. |

Jonathan Hunt Prize in Politics and International Relations |
The Prize was established in 2006 and is financed from funds which have been donated by the Right Honourable Jonathan Hunt OBE. The main purpose of the Prize is to reward academic excellence in undergraduate courses in Politics and International Relations. This prize is awarded by the University- you do not need to apply. |

Robert Chapman Prize in Politics and International Relations |
The Prize was established by subscriptions from past and present students, associates and friends, as a tribute to Professor Robert McDonald Chapman on his retirement in 1988 after holding the foundation Chair in Political Studies since 1964. The Prize will be awarded to the student in Politics and International Relations who is deemed to have done the most outstanding work at undergraduate level in the field of New Zealand politics in the year of the award. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage Postgraduate research on the study of Marxism-Leninism Scientific Socialism or research in areas concerning the history, philosophy and practice of socialism that relates to it at the University of Auckland. |

| The Electoral Commission Suffrage Scholarship |
Set up to celebrate the anniversary of universal suffrage in New Zealand, the Electoral Commission has established scholarships that cover fees for postgraduate research into voter participation. Each scholarship will fund the New Zealand domestic fees for one year up to the value of 1 EFTS for study at honours or masters level. | |

Robert Chapman Postgraduate Prize |
The Robert Chapman Postgraduate Prize was established in 2007 by the Chapman family and trustees of the Robert and Noeline Chapman Estate. The main purpose of the Prize is to reward students undertaking a Masters or PhD in Politics and International Relations. Roger Oppenheim Memorial Prize |
The Roger Oppenheim Memorial Prize in Sociological Research was established in 1988 to commemorate the life and work of the late Roger Oppenheim, Senior Lecturer in Sociology. His family, friends, colleagues and students donated the funds which support the award. The prize is worth $600. The prize is awarded annually for the best sociological thesis or dissertation completed in the preceding academic year by a student enrolled in a Master's degree in Sociology. |
