Dympna Callaghan is Dean's Professor in the Humanities at Syracuse University, and recently held a year-long scholarship at the Getty Research Institute where she researched the relation between early modern poetry and painting.

Her publications include Woman and Gender in Renaissance Tragedy (1989), The Weyward Sisters (with Jyotsna Singh and Lorraine Helms, 1992), A Feminist Companion to Shakespeare (2001), "The Duchess of Malfi" Casebook (2001), "Romeo and Juliet," (2003), The Oxford Book of English Renaissance Poetry (Oxford), and The Sonnets: A Brief Guide (Blackwells).
