About Spanish

We study and teach Spanish and Latin American literatures and cultures as well as Spanish language.

The University of Auckland enjoys strong links with Spain. We hold one of the world’s five prestigious Prince of Asturias Chairs of Spanish Language and Culture.

Studying Spanish

You can study Spanish from Bachelor of Arts through to PhD. You can take Spanish language courses at all levels in classes that emphasise communication skills. We also have a strong focus on Spanish and Latin American literature, film, art, music and popular culture.

You can take Latin American Studies as a separate subject for the Bachelor of Arts if you want to focus exclusively on this region.
