We offer a full programme of study in Italian, from undergraduate study through to PhD. Language acquisition is at the core of our teaching, with courses in Italian language for every level. We encourage you to study abroad at universities in Italy.

You can also study modern Italian society and culture, contemporary literature and film, and medieval and Renaissance literature and culture.

Dante Alighieri Society

Italian at the University of Auckland has strong connections with the Dante Alighieri Society, which promotes Italian language through cultural and social events.

We are one of the locations where prospective teachers of Italian to foreigners can sit a certificate of competence exam through the University for Foreigners of Siena’s Didattica dell'ITALiano a Stranieri (DITALS).
