Bachelor of Theology (Honours)

The BTheol (Hons) consists of advanced taught courses and some supervised research.

The Bachelor of Theology (Honours) will be suspended from 2017 and will not be available for new admissions after 2016. Students currently enrolled in the BTheol(Hons) who need advice about completion should contact the Arts Students’ Centre.

Subjects available

Courses in the BTheol (Hons) reflect cross-disciplinary features within the study of Theology and include topics in biblical studies, Christian thought and history, and practical theology.

Entry requirements

  • A completed Bachelor of Theology (or equivalent qualification), including the courses required for one of the BTheol(Hons) subject areas. You must have an average grade of at least B in 45 points above Stage II in those courses.
  • Admission must be approved by the Head of Theology.

Admission from an incomplete BTheol

You may be permitted to begin the BTheol (Hons) if you have completed the courses required for the subject (with the required grade average) and have only 30 points left to complete your BTheol. You must complete the BTheol within your first semester of BTheol (Hons) enrolment.


One year full-time or up to two years part-time.

Required course of study

120 points of 700-level (postgraduate) courses, including required courses.
