“One definite advantage to being a student in the Faculty of Arts is that there are so many subjects that you’ll be sure to find something that interests you.

“Anthropology is a great place to start if you find yourself interested in everything. There is something about it that is inherently interesting, and I think you would be hard pressed to find a boring Anthropology course at The University of Auckland. The lecturers in the department are experts in their field, and do a fantastic job of making classes engaging.

“I also choose to study Philosophy because I think it adds a lot to one’s personal fulfilment. Philosophy has helped me to develop better writing skills and approach problems more rationally. The process has definitely enhanced my ability to reason, which is useful in many other aspects of life.

“I am from Seattle originally, but I found that it wasn’t difficult to integrate when I moved to Auckland. Both students and lecturers in my departments were very welcoming and fun to be around. Auckland’s a great city to move to if this is your first time away from home, as it’s quite safe and provides a valuable multicultural atmosphere.”
