“Studying Linguistics serves as a constant reminder of how incredible language really is. I always marvel at our ability to unconsciously understand the rules of our own language without them ever being explicitly taught. The sheer number of different languages our species has managed to create is just cause for amazement.

“The Faculty of Arts is a fantastic organization to be part of. There are so many departments and courses - the hardest part is deciding which subject not to do. Yet even with all the different subjects, you don’t get lost among the crowd. The faculty is always there to help - whether you need guidance on what courses to take, advice on postgraduate study or assistance on any issue, there will be someone who can point you in the right direction.

“The University of Auckland is a really big place and though this can be disconcerting at first, I think the size is one of its greatest strengths. Among so many students, it’s easy to find like-minded people and develop strong friendships. Getting involved in the many clubs and student associations will show you just how enjoyable student life at the University can be.”
