“I come from Vietnam and I’m happy to know that there’s a growing community of Vietnamese scholars here in Auckland. We exchange knowledge, experience, ups and downs, and the amazingness of studying and living in Aotearoa New Zealand.

“Studying in the Faculty of Arts has been a rewarding experience. The lecturers and staff are really supportive. I can seek their advice on studying, researching, and student life with ease.

“Extracurricular activities organized by the Auckland University Arts’ Students Association (AUASA) and Postgraduate Students’ Association (PGSA) run throughout academic year, so I have amazing opportunities to engage with friends and enjoy student life.

“As part of the Master of Public Policy I had a three-month internship in the office of a Member of Parliament of New Zealand to gain practical politics experience and academic credit, and it was an eye-opening opportunity.

“I plan to conduct research on decentralisation policies in Vietnam, which are a part of the structural adjustment and democratisation processes in this country, to find out the motivations and difficulties behind them.

“I researched carefully about the universities here in New Zealand before coming and as the leading research university, the University of Auckland was my prime choice.”
