Dr Eduardo Piñeros

Associate Professor in Spanish


After graduating with a Licenciatura in Modern Languages from the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional de Colombia in 1990, Eduardo Piñeros earned a masters in 1994 and a PhD in 1998 in Hispanic Linguistics from the Ohio State University. His areas of specialisation are Spanish phonology and morphology. He worked as Assistant Professor of Spanish Linguistics at Central Michigan University from 1998 to 1999 and held an equivalent position at the University of Iowa from 1999 to 2005, when he was promoted to Associate Professor. He accepted a position as Senior Lecturer of Spanish Linguistics at the University of Auckland in 2009. Here, he was promoted to Senior Lecturer Over the Bar in 2011 and to Associate Professor in 2018. Eduardo received a Faculty of Arts Teaching Excellence Award for Innovation in 2012 and a University Sustained Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015.
