We're looking for Graduate Teaching Assistants

The Faculty of Arts has opportunities available for postgraduate students looking to work as Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) in 2018. GTAs provide part-time teaching and marking support in undergraduate courses. This is a valuable opportunity to gain professional teaching experience. Please read the information sheet for your school and check with your supervisor(s) before submitting an expression of interest.

The fine print

  • Duties may include teaching/facilitating tutorials, and/or delivery of a limited number of lectures and/or seminars and the associated preparation; assignment and/or examination marking; attendance at training courses and lecturers; regular office hours, meetings and administration.
  • Students in receipt of a scholarship must also comply with the relevant scholarship regulations. To ensure equity and compliance with scholarship provisions, appointments are to be coordinated with scholarship receipt. In the event of scholarship award after the appointment date, the appointee must inform the Head of School and the Scholarship Office.
  • All candidates must have the right to work in New Zealand.
  • Only successful candidates will be contacted.

Expression of interest

The deadline for expressions of interest is Tuesday 31 October 2017 (for Summer School 2018), Monday 8 January 2018 (for Semester 1), Monday 28 May 2018 (for Semester 2). However, we encourage you to indicate all semesters in which you are interested in your initial expression of interest due 31 October 2017.
