Arts students true Blue winners

23 October 2014

Nineteen Faculty of Arts students were among the winners of prestigious 2014 Auckland Blues Awards, presented at a celebration in the Marquee on the lawn of Old Government House on Friday 3 October.

The Awards are a University of Auckland tradition dating back to 1922. They acknowledge a student’s extra-curricular activities while studying at university.

The name of the awards refers to the colours of Oxford and Cambridge universities in England, which came to symbolise excellence in sport, before being extended to recognise achievement in the arts. These days, awards are made in three categories: Arts, Sport, and Service and Leadership (the latter is a new category, added in 2013).
